spots on spuds
. The seed potato which you describe as " the base of the green stem is discoloured and has nothing on it ". Well yeah, the seed potato was only needed to grow the plant. The potatoes produced don't grow from this part of the plant. Again, everything sounds by pennypat

Tips on types of soil etc for the base of a raised flower bed
is 18 inches high you can put crocks in the bottom to fill it out.but if you want to grow potatoes or parsnips you will need deep good quality soil. by Shorty2

to the point where it started - but just enough for me to see, frustratingly, that this would have been a very respectable crop. Consequently, I've gone back to Jerusalem artichokes this year as a reliable alternative tuber to potatoes. I probably would grow by Allan Horrocks

Potatoes (again-sorry!)
This is my first year of growing my own and I'm growing kestrel potatoes which I planted mid February in a "potato bag" rolled down.  Since then I have been earthing up until the bag is full.  There is about 2ft of soil and 1.5ft of foliage which by Andrea Turner

it wouldn't work for all varieties athough who wants giant new potatoes? Yes I think it is down to personal choice. Its to create one stronger growing stem instead of several smaller ones. It might mean,as has been said , that you get less but larger spuds by ben groom

Potato blight soil
Hello there, one of my potato sacks has unfortunatly suffered from the dreaded blight... i was just wondering what to do with the soil and compost that is in the sack, is it still safe to grow other fruit and veg in there like a broccoli or even a by Pondman

Potato Blight ?
Year one growing potatos in containers was successful. Year two i planted early variety in November 2011 which have failed with first frost. Top foliage fell over and died away.What i need to know is, do i excavate the tubers and destroy them and do by Ronnie G

Small Potatoes

those growing close to the potatoes took a while longer to get it, and they were not so badly affected. You may be able to save the fruits if you pick them off very promptly and try to ripen them in a paper bag with a freckly banana - that's what I by Mr John Phillips
