; drought at the wrong time of year for moss. Whatever it is, the moss will not grow for us. But we keep on trying. I get lots of moss in my garden by just leaving rotting logs in a damp place, The north facing side then grows lovely moss. with primulas by oldchippy

clay soil so little choice of plants
is actually very fertile and will grow all sorts of things.  It's just hard to work.  There are other threads lower down about how to improve clay soil by adding plenty of sharp sand, fine grit, well rotted compost and manure to break up the clods.    You need by Renu

results!)  I've always fought shy of trying to grow primulas from seed as I believed they were very difficult.  I'm just off to the garden centre to buy some seeds and give them a go.  We're revamping a pond and last night's episode gave us lots of ideas by diggingdoris

Plants still in flower?
it with spring flowers - lots of primroses and primulas,pansies,wallflower,love-in-the-mist still blooming away.  And ,for the first time I had winter heather in full bloom for my wreath.  We are going to have our first frost tonight in Bristol so it will be a by Kate Bradbury

spring. Consider though what you want form this area, do you want to fill it with perennials or could it be filled with a mix of annuals also. how about growing some of your own food here mixed in with the shrubs, standard fruit bushes can make good focal by CuriousGardener
