. Thanks for your help. You sure can grow courgettes on compost heaps as long as there's plenty of sun as figrat says. Squash and pumpkins, too. Look at the number of volunteer veg that pop up from compost heaps. Good - all of the compost heaps are in full by Heather4

Talkback: Annual allotments week
in the compost? I am growing pumpkins for the first time, they have lots of flowers and small(ball sized) fruits. Should I remove some to promote larger pumpkins. We have had our allotment since April this year. It has changed our lives. My husband has never by Lesley

what is eating my runner bean leafs?
Hi I am new to growing my own vegatables. My Runner bean plants were lovely when I put them out, they are now being eating by something and getting a bit straggly. Help? Would it help to know that I live in a wooded area? Slugs-probably-just a word by Paula Cliff

squash seed germination
and shoved in a bit of old compost are thriving! I have had major problems with squah and pumpkin germination and sweetcorn too. Only 2 plants out of 24 have germinated   What sort of temperature have they been kept at? Both need real warmth. Chancing it a by greenfingaz

than 8 inches other ppl on the allotment have told me to use shandy because it grows better when watered with because they like beer is this correct My courgettes are in the polytunnel and are OK, but my Crown Prince Pumpkin is outside, and most by Linda Salfiti-Hoult

end. Initially the flesh was green with the smaller ones but I let a couple grow for the fun of it and they are orange inside .. is it a type of pumpkin ? It is dark green with stripes and has huge pips. why are my courgettes going rotten at the ends by poplars
