dead tree fungi
Hi all, and a Happy New Year to everyone. I have a dead flowering cherry tree in my garden, which I have fixed a trellis to for growing climbing roses on.  The tree is now covered in fungi which I gather is breaking down the tree, does anyone know by Dave17

Wildflowers
've read that they do like finely raked, weedless soil, so I've sown minein seed trays to begin with, hoping that this will give them a better start. I hopethis helps you a bit! What are the seeds in the mix? If I was growing perennials for planting by Bookwormy

fast growing climbers
is very fast growing and smothered in pale pink flowers in spring but it's not evergreen. Unfortunately I lost mine this year to a very severe frost early spring.    You could mix one of these with a rambling rose or a jasmine officinale or even an ivy by dodo

Talkback: Self-seeding plants
I can do to rescue them this year? I've tried watering them at night and mircale grow. Reply to CHOR7ON: It's hard to tell the problem without seeing the plants. Are you certain the flowering isn't simply over, and their flowers have now faded by aromarach

Talkback: Ivy
look out for this orchid-like, leafless, flower coming up, often yards from the host plant, from April onwards. I would love to grow a rambling rose against a wall, covered in pebbledash, but am not too sure how to prune a rambling rose, and how often by Anne Wareham

Some pics of my before and after garden
as with most new estates and we overcame this by putting trellis to our existing wall and fence and planted honeysuckle, pyracantha, roses, ivy, jasmine.  We also added two pergolas over which we have grown wisteria, roses and clematis.    We also added a small by Lavender Lady

Munstead, Hidcote or ................?
I want to plant lavender in the beds either side of my garden seat on the patio.  It will be in front of David Austin climbing roses Wollerton Old Hall which will hopefully be pale apricot/cream in colour (only planted this winter).  Which variety by happycottontail

Why did you all start gardening?
. When we eventually had more than a yard my father filled it with roses and dahlias, they left me cold so i never bothered. Most gardens after that were dog runs, football pitches, play areas. I became ill and found going out into the garden - the one by Busy-Lizzie

has rigid trellis fixed alongside the path.  A rosa glauca http://awaytogarden.com/great-shrub-rosa-glauca-my-must-have-rose  in the corner against the sitting room window is the only firm decision I've made so far  fabulous! That's sounds exciting by Verdun
