Talkback: Rose blackspot
mulch as you suggest I take it that a thick layer of Cocoa Shell would also be beneficial and also be good for the soil over the years ? Mal Some of my roses do not grow well, one is Zepherine Drouhin which I know could be a problem and the other is one by ladyroseella

Hi. i am thinking of buying a couple of climbing roses. I've done a bit of googling and see that they are sold as bare root or container grown. When I eventually manage to decide which 2 to buy (am constantly changing my mind) what should i go for by tamarix

Rocky soil
Hello. I was  wondering if anyone had any advise for me. My husband and I have just moved into a fairly modern house and were digging out the beds in the back garden ready for our roses. We have. As we dug away, about spade and half in we hit rock by Kel Plaistow

Climbing rose
I planted a climbing rose last year which has done very well, but there appears to be branches growing that are red in colour and do not turn green.  Do I leave them on and prune them back in the autumn or do I remove them now?  To be honest by lavenderlass

Fear of messing with old roses
&Q last week.  They are labelled 'Fragrant Rose 'Snow White', says grows to around 80cm max with 60 cm max width.  I wanted to see what this rose looks like when mature but haven't been able to find it anywhere - though of course I could easily have missed by yarrow2

Planting a Rambling Rector
well, and roses are no exception. When planting, make sure you plant 2 feet from the wall or fence that your growing it up, to ensure the rain reaches the roots, and water heavily, once a week, in hot weather. Giving it a thourough drenching by Elsa MacPherson

Rambling roses
Can I plant a rambling rose to grow up a fir tree or is the environment too acid?  Have many fir trees and want to make them a little more interesting. ....you can plant one, but it's whether you'll want to spend the time tieing the rose to the tree by gadrury
