Strawberry Plants and Fruit bushes - weed control
over it to keep birds, and cats, from our soft fruit.    I have read somewhere about growing strawberry plants in a length of guttering, which can be propped up on supports to keep the slugs off - just an idea. Netting is the answer for birds by NJJ272

Hi everyone, This is my first ever attempt at growing strawberries and I have a few white flowers that have opened over the past couple of days.......my neighbour has told me to cut the flowers off just under the base of the flower with scissors by Lucy3

how to eradicate strawberry flys
want to save whats left. thanks You are growing this an indoor plant in a window but you don't make it clear what the problem is -is there any damage and what makes you think the fly is the culprit-?I have never heard of a strawberry fly to be honest by LEEBEE

Talkback: How to take cuttings from house plants
they stay inside and if so how large would they grow? Do they need sunshine or would they be happy without it? I have a coral cactus which has been happily growing for 3 years. This year it has sent up a dozen or more long shoots which have roots. I am by Whippet

. , I'd second both the above, good advise. Mixing mpc with John innes is something I practise when growing in containers for more than one season. I want to plant strawberries too but haven't grown them for few years. Best varieties? Bare root by Alfierawes

Stunted strawberries
continued to swell and have ripened and taste fine, but the vast majority of those which have continued to grow are mis-shapen - like the ones you get in 'budget' packs of strawberries in the supermarket.  There are also some leaf problems; some by Jinny37

Strawberry protection
growing strawberries in baskets and wondered how best to protect them from birds. Do I just hang mesh over the basket? It seems to me that the wind might just dislodge it. Are there any tips from those that have tiried? i plant mine in tubs (i have a very by Colin Atkinson

'm also trying strawberries in a hanging basket, as strawberries are one of the few things he'll happily eat! Dianthus are a good idea to grow, as they're not poisonous, and come in a variety of colours, mostly the purples and pinks you're after.  Maybe a by LucyLocket5

Complete weed and feed near veg
Hi All I am probably worrying for nothing but I am someone that does not use weed killers as I like to grow my own veg.  Unfortuantly the new OH uses weed killer and I have a few pots of potatoes, strawberries and peas in tubs up near the house by Catseyes411
