strawberries
factor... i would suggest cutting off the runners and even removing the fruit trusses in the first year...keep one plant to get runners from but treat the others as described..they are an easy plant to grow but protect any fruit and watch for slugs by Martyn Bottomley

Help with overwintering Strawberries, Please
Hope someone can give me some advice. I bought some strawberry runners earlier this year, and have planted them up in pots.  Some survived, some didn't, and the ones I have now look healthy and are sending out runners which I'm taking advantage by Mummy Muddy Paws

Greenhouse
where in this plan the virtual greenhouse should be... It'll be a while until I use the current greenhouse (apart from overwintering pots) so won't know for some time if it's any good  - I envisage growing tomatoes, peppers and maybe a grape wine. And by Supernoodle

What veg and salad can be grown in clay-flint-chalk soil?
Thank you for the advice on indoors growing. Now the time for 'being brave'. Have been a bit disappointed by efforts in recent years to grow veg and salad outdoors. Cabbages, swedes and other veg have all failed in a horrible clay flinty soil by Bob Flowerjuice

!@happymarion I didn't mean in a regular garden! If I ever get a nice piece of land, I could just leave it and sit and watch it grow. Glad you found lots of alpine strawberries. Are you going to make use of them?@Chromebaby lovely to find new plants, isn't it? I by oldchippy

the first year I doubt I will get much fruit anyway but all going well next year I will be prepared for the invasion :)The strawberries I picked asap and ate straight away. At least there was some reward. My wild life will have a feast on blackberries, top by judith
