Climber wanted for a shady wall.
and sunflowers. However there is a high wall at the other end of this border which appears to be in shade most of the day. I will dig up a few foxgloves to put in for starters but is there a climber tolerant of shade to  grow up the wall?  Ivy is not too popular by daydaisy

Erecting structure for privacy in thin strip of ground
would like to plant something that will grow about five or six feet high that would give us privacy. However, it cannot be a tree or shrub because there won't be room for large roots. I was thinking of planting sunflowers and some tall border plants. I by jemcharlie

which ones
To a certain extent is depends on how you grow and what. Most of my plants in the greenhouse are in claypots buried in the sand plunge. The plunge only is watered and the plants get it through the clay pots which are porous. In the other greenhouse by harry1andy

- it's more a case of flattened and muddy. When the ground is drier I'll give it a good raking over and if behaves the same as in previous years the grass will grow back fine. Janet I found that by using sunflower hearts rather than mixed seed by KenF

seeds not germinated
they normally take Hi, I've had trouble with sunflower seeds both in the cold frame and in the ground at the allotment. Only 4 out of two packets have germinated. I thought perhaps mice or birds have eaten them. I too have had trouble with courgettes. I sowed by Debbie 11

and crannies that usually only the squirrels know about ! This year i grew food to encourage birds on to my new alltoment plants like sunflowers and honesty realy attracted a large selection from great tits to very large magpies this success has encouraged me by Spud

Cobaea
I grew cobaea from seed earlier in the year and as they are sunlovers , I was wondering if they will survive the horrendous rain this summer. They are in a fairly well drained  southwest facing plot against a trellis and are stiil growing well by jean riley

lily beetle
I am planning my garden for the season.In the previous two seasons my garden has been plagued by lily beetle,my crown imperials were attacked and all my lilys.I have read that spraying sunflower oil on plants will help.Does anybody have any advise by sal3

Talkback: Potatoes, broccoli and bumblebees
My Potatoes looked fantastic but never did flower and have no potatoes on them not even small ones can you tell me why.I did plant them in new soil that I bought by the lorry load by the way I live in Spain and I am growing them under cover. Can you by john lawson
