Dispute
Hi guys, I'll get straight to the point, we have had a large (4ft) Scottish thistle growing in a quiet not used corner of our garden for a few years now. We have recently got serious about gardening and our garden. My wife now wants to get rid of it by Percy-Grower

Need help with different types of plants
Hi I am wondering if you lovely people can think of any plants/shrubs that will grow or do well in a clay like soil. My garden is part shady but not all through the day (so does get a little sun in the boarders) during the afternoon! I have by Gloucestergirl13

Talkback: Blackbirds and blackberries
I say let the birds eat the berries. Birds add so much to the garden. In fact I think I'll grow some blackberries just for the birds next year in my garden. This year has been great for young ones in my garden ive had sparrows, blue tits, great tits by Grannyanne

Are sterile plants any good for wildlife?
of the old flower spikes and take them back to yours and wang the flower heads around scattering the seeds.  (Now is the perfect tiem to do this) I find this is always much more effective in sowing foxgloves them trying to grow in pots you can always move by Lunarz

Seed packet grumbles
Why do seed packets contain so little information?  I purchased some seeds from Sara Raven but regret it constantly. There is just not enough info on how to grow the seeds! For example - Morning Glory... they need more than just popping into seed by Outdoor girl

Talkback: Sweetcorn crash
start than many others? I learned from previous years that when you have had a long wet spell it is very easy to think that they have had enough water and not physically check the soil; I grow on raised beds which do tend to drain faster! best sweetcorn by Wendy Newton
