have been growing sunflowers, maize and wheat so there is still loads of stuff out there for them. Thanks for your sympathy Ron. I too remember myxomatosis and it was awful. I certainly wouldn't wish anything so horrible on the rabbits. I used to have by rogerT2

Star Jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides)
(or it would be if we had more sun). It is alive, not thriving, not growing, not flowering. I'm wondering whether to put it in a pot (better drainage) and overwinter it indoors. I'd prefer it to remain where it is because I want to clothe the pillars by yarrow2

outside my bungalow bedroom window (in the north east of England.) It attracts mainly blue tits, great tits and coal tits. They seem to love the black and beige sort of sunflower seeds.I tried the nigeria black seed, to see if the gold finches would come by Margaret

- do not give anything salted to birds: no ham or minced meat you eat (because there is salt in it). This is what children here are taught already in kindergartens and schools - if you give fat or sunflower seeds or something else to birds, make sure by mizzzy

creature and just pretended to be helping. If only we could grow some extra just for the beetle that would be fine. The adult is so handsome, almost as appealing as an adult ladybird. i have two types of bubble bee in my garden and they seem to be coming by Murray Fortescue

This isn't about Cosmos, but reminded me of the first plants I tried to grow from seed, aged about 5 or 6 I guess. Lavatera (great success), cornflowers (brilliant success) and aquilegia (total fail), and I can still remember the disappointment by hazel.luskin@gmail.com
