Hi, as promised, this is a thread for those who wish to learn the basic facts for successful sweet pea growing. Sweet peas are really very easy to grow. You may simply sow the seed in the soil/pots where you intend them to grow in March or April by David K

Growing Sweet Peas and Runner Beans together
Yesterday I bought 3  White Lady runner bean plants, about 25cm tall.  I also have 6 sweet pea plants which are about 15cms.  I wondered about growing them up canes, 2 sweet peas at the bottom of the first cane, then one bean at the bottom by happycottontail

My sweet peas have been sown two differnt ways soaking over night and just sowing straight into compost filled toilet tubes. The soaked ones grew leggy but the other ones grew ok. They were both put in the same window sill to grow but are still by jo

can I grow  my standard Sweet Pea on hanging baskets? Hello, Sweet peas can grow fairly tall & need something to climb up. You can get Bijou types which look as if they are shorter & might be more suitable for baskets alex03 wrote (see) can I grow by alex03

some plants (preferably those grown in root trainers.) I love Matucana and Cupani, both very old varieties with scent and bi-coloured flowers Hi scent - sweet pea smells amazing and grows well, they give a lot of flowers per stem   seeds http by happycottontail

Sowing seeds in toilet rolls
out so it breaks down in the soil without disturbing the roots. I only use for sweet peas as couldnt be bothered with doing everything that way OK thanks for that! So only members of the Fabacea family then! You can pretty much grow anything i should by Throstle2
