Scottish Clematis

What is this?
have you seen aphids/greenfly on it? My first impression was that it was a perennial sweet pea, and not a clematis at all! Deffo not a sweetpea. Its produced 2 flowers, both appeared like the one in the pic. Ive now cut the flowers back so it can put by Miss.Understood

bolting seedlings
, all the seedlings on my window ledges always grow tall and leggy with very few leaves. I have an amazing array of sweet pea seedlings on my bathroom window sill at the moment that are 5" tall with not a leaf in sight!Have come to the conclusion by Kate Brown

Completely new to veg growing
as many as runner beans and put net or string up the wigwam for peas to grow as they are like sweet peas and cling on to the string/ net. Grow flowers near your veg to attract the bees to get the veg growing.   I think as it is your first year you should by jackie frost

plants which tends to bolt such as lettuce, pak choi, parsley (mushrooms). They seems to cope better in a shade. We had reasonable results with french beans, peas, nasturtiums, swiss chard. Carrots were a bit small. We also grow runner beans on sunnier by Pink Heather
