Growing Sweetcorn
I'm a beginner and decided to sow sweetcorn to grow in my newly acquired greenhouse (having just moved house). All 13 plants are growing very well and are now over a foot high, after potting on. However as I live in central Scotland I was intending by Gilly7

under sweetcorn. Brassicas don't mind a bit of shade. Give it a go and let us know! I grow sweetcorn in a polytunnel at a spacing of about 45cm each way. They cast little shade and the bush tomatoes,basil,chillies and cucumbers in between  don't seem by PatsyC

there.  I do that for early lettuce crops whethe lettuce is ready but beans not ready for picking...still growing There is a combination of planting used by Natve Americans called the Three Sisters. The sisters are sweetcorn, climbing beans and cucurbits by newgreen

Trouble germinating sweet corn
All my toms, chillies, beans and peas are all growing well but my sweetcorn incredible and market more cucumbers which remain around 18-20c have not germinated and looking for tips to get them going. A bit early maybe? This may nelp http by Jay12

and red banaha shallots are beautiful. Personally I can't see why anyone would want to devote time, space and cost to growing such tiny mini-cobs when for the same time and space they could enjoy delicious full-sized sweetcorn. What is the point of baby by Pixley

. They just don't want to do anything. Sweet corn needs full sun but also decent warmth. The decent warmth might be lacking. Barry isn't too pleased that I planted my Sunflowers with the Sweetcorn because the Sunflowers are growing faster - the Sunflowers by Moonlit Hare

White moss/fur on newly germinating seeds
for some seeds? What are you growing? The moss os currently on some F1 Hybrid chilli's, radish seedlings, and on Sweetcorn (going from memory.. might have to check when I get home from work). It could be the compost is too wet -is it on the seedlings by Huntertony
