Advice for a novice
for most things to start permanent planting.  Bulbs for spring need to start being planted end of August into September for daffodils, much later for tulips, violas are good now and may flower all winter depenedent upon the weather.   Evergreens by Stewart Forward

Can I save my spring/summer bulbs
Hi All! Like many others I stored spring and summer bulbs in a container in the garden and they've nearly all bolted including tulip, hyacinths, fritillaria rubra - I got them out yesterday to start planting and although they smell pretty bad by Liz Douglas

Where have all the hostas gone?
.  Also noticed this morning that seemingly overnight my Snake's head fritillaries have come up and are about to open.  Very exciting as I've not grown these before! Tulips are also on the cusp This being my first year gardening, I'm loving by dizzylizzy

these small irises? 2x now have tried with different varieties- dry tubers & 'in the green' & neither reappeared the following spring. We do have a large number of squirrels, but they tend to go for the crocus & small red tulips. J. Mine have been in for years by Gold1locks

Newhouse and new to gardening, plant type and general advice please!
but kept the greenhouse and are looking for nice plants bushes and trees to liven the garden up, to give you an idea of what I like I am growing a red and an orange acer tree and a chocolate plant, but they are too small at the moment.   We have left one by davielovesgravy

Purples in my garden but what colour for you?
, hot, dry, windy, limestone, cold winters, eg acers, pittosporum Tom Thumb, acteas, tall red and purple lobelias. I like very dark tulips, like Queen of the Night and Dahlias. I'm trying to do a pastel colour bed and a hot colour bed with reds, yellows by Verdun
