need to know. I've grown lilies in big baskets and they look fabulous and the blooms last. Also, if you grow lilies in containers you're less likely to have the beetles because you're using fresh soil. helo, i am from romania and i love this bbc by kaycurtis

. I have a very deep pink calla lily an as of yet i have had no trouble at all with it. I grow is in my garden in a very sunny patch, which it seems to love. It is a swartzcoff variety and i purchased it in wilkinsons shop in Runcorn.........i'm hoping by rurfarratense

Talkback: Dealing with lily beetle
for it to squeak I grow my lilies in pots, and submerge the pots weekly in a rain barrel for 30 mins, and scoop off the beetles with a jar. I leave the lidded jar in the sun till they die. This is an easy method and I have very few catches since ai have been doing by Tim Burr

Lily beetle
, urghh ! On a recent tv gardening program, a lady who grew lilies commercially, advised a spray of garlic 'juice'. She didn't say any more than that so I don't know quantities or how to make up? Would growing galic near the lilies do the same? Has anyone by SilverFairy

Ornamental alliums
I thought they were quite hardy plants but it seems lik of the three that I planted last year, only one seems to have made it through the monsson season. It seems also to have killed my asiatic lilly too. Lilies definitely don't like the damp by Swedboy

in the Guildford area of Surrey. It then started to spread until it is now one of the most widely cursed garden pests.We've been lucky this year and I have not seen a single beetle in the garden, but then we are growing far fewer lilies than a couple of years ago by Sara Miller

that has flowered for 2 years running. I covered the crown with a good layer of straw and peat, and a big pot. Do you think it will bloom again this year or have I been foolhardy and lost the plant? I can't see any new shoots yet. I also grow canna lilies by Lorrie Flannery
