Looking for a 'fast' growing Yew tree (Taxus)
Hi there Could someone recommend a 'fast' growing Yew (one that will get close to 12" a year), if it is a native that would be great but happy with hybrid (Taxus x).   I'l looking to harvest wood (coppicing) rather than hedge building so would by chris Lewis2

Hi Kate when we moved here in 2002 we had a yew hedge one side of our back garden 16 feet tall 7 feet thick,not quite a hedge more like a wood,The person we bought the house from said it was only 25 years old and only had the top cut out or it may by oldchippy

Can you identify this plant
I discovered this plant growing horizontally, searching for the light, under a yew tree  last summer.  I took six cuttings and all survived the winter in a very cold greenhouse.  The cuttings started flowering in my garden late June and I keep by break23

Planting under yew tree
Hi I would like to know what plants would be suitable for growing at the base of a yew tree. Ideally I would like them to be evergreen with the odd rockery/alpine plant and was looking at Juniperus. Any help/advice would be appreciated please by Jo Bayford

yew?  Leylandi is absolutely nothing to do with yew!  However, Leylandi can be a skin irritant and there are some reports of it causing abortion in cattle if a lot is eaten.  IME most cattle would not eat much of a growing Leylandi, but if someone put by Carolyn Fernihough

problems Thanks, nutcutlet, that is just what I needed to hear. Yew are very forgiving, and are one of the only conifers which grow bak from cutting into brown wood - go for it.  I usually have to do mine at the 'wrong' time as it can overgrow a path by alimilna

Is artist conk (fungus) dangerous
I have artist conk growh on my euclayptus tree stump.  They look quite pretty so I have allowed it to grow for 2 months now.  However, it seems to be starting to affect the honeysuckle plant that is growing around the stump. Will it eventually by hyatan
