Talkback: Growing ornamental poppies
I did not know you could shear back ornamental poppies and maybe get a few flowers later on! Will give this a go this year! No mention of how to get these plants. Do I wait until summer and buy from a garden centre, or can I grow them from seed by Patricia16

Growing Sweet Potatoes
I have started the process of growing sweet potato slips by submerging half a sweet potato in a jar of water, with the other half sticking out the top. After weeks and weeks of nothing, it has finally grown a very good root system. However by Roxanne Blanton

Is anyone growing Asian pears?
I know they grow as far north as Korea, but pears in general don't do well in Scotland (I'm told) so I don't know if Asian pears are worth trying.  Any survival?  Any fruit? Thanks by Laura Corin

Growing plants in winter?
Just a thought. Was wondering this time of year if it's worth or possible to grow some plants in doors on the window ledge in a propagater? Or would they just be week and leggy. I normally do this in the Spring but get a bit bored this time of year by ziggy

Potatoes: Some growing, some not
Hello I am new to potato growing and this year have planted 20 first earlies (10 each of Kestrel and Winston) and 20 maincrops (Golden Wonder). All the first earlies are growing merrily and have been earthed up twice. But only some of the maincrops by JossVam

Nothing will grow - suggestions please!
I live in a terraced house with a smallish garden.  There is a patch along one border where I cannot get anything to grow.  There used to be a large conifer there in my garden (cut down 3 years ago) and my neighbour has a large conifer adjacent by Ruth Green

It is a silly question, but I need to know the answer If I put a PVC sheet over the top of a leylandii hedge, will it stop growing up or just die ? It a two-storey house high at the moment and it is quite costly to get it trimmed twice a year and I by Tan

Talkback: Growing raspberries
handful of fruit and berry feed and all is working so far. Not sure of the variety though. I'd like to grow gooseberries but don't have enough room to plant them in the ground. Do they grow well in pots and if so what variety is best? I have bought some by agnes30
