Talkback: Vine weevils
. It breaks your heart to see entire planting arrangements keel over without warning due to the ever-hungry grubs. The only one to benefit is my robin, who is more than happy to tuck in! I'm also very familiar with the old weevil!Only this week I was potting by mothermook

  no not at present are they harmful  how can i get rid will i be able to use this compost again or shall i get rid thats it ugh  Artjak - if I've got weevil grubs in my pots I get them out and squidge them and let the birds or the neighbours chickens have them by tinker 2

pictures now-click on the tree icon- next to ABC- on the message bar Sounds like bird damage -looking for grubs         Going to have to back track-that looks look like a lot more damage than birds would do It may be animal damage -perhaps rodents by Omen

Don't keep adding feed-turn it out and check for vine weevil grubs that may have been at the roots,it could be waterlogged,the roots could have got frozen in the winter-really if the top isn't growing- check the bottom Thanks - will post results by celia2

'll give it a go, don't see I have anything to lose at this point Check the soil for vine weevil grubs and the leaves for adults and get some nematodes in if you find any. I can't see any evidence but it might be worth doing in case.  Thanks As an aside by MuddyFork

to deal with this issue... This sounds like it might be vine weevil grubs which are nasty little b******s. Are the maggots creamy White with dark heads and c- shaped? You haven't done anything wrong I'm sure, but dealing with this sort of infestation on a by cupcakesarah

to each house so maybe I'll be able to tell what's going on - and I'd better start putting a little  hedgehog food out again  - I've a feeling the grubs and beetles they're after may be a bit scarce at the moment as it's been so cold they may be buried by Dovefromabove

What's eating my seedlings?!
pellets on my Purity Yip slugs. I did find my first vine weevil of the year in my coldframe though Grub or bug? I'd go with slugs too, that's how my wallflowers are looking at the moment! Yep....slugs or snails...look under the pots and trays, they hide by Justin iow
