Talkback: Harvesting garlic
Doesn't the smell just make you want to get cooking when you harvest garlic, Pippa? Same with onions and shallots. I have a slatted table so will do the same with mine. Thanks for the tip - I hadn't thought of that. No sign of rust here either by joey woosey

got rust due to prolonged torential rain. Nov rainfall was 365mm). The pods are currently about 4 inches (100mm) long and we're looking forward to harvesting them shortly. Any tips on the best way to prepare them for the table will be appreciated. Top by Kate, gardenersworld.com

Oh yes, I did harvest the first potatoes and they tasted wonderful. I want to conserve the small ones for next year. The problem we faced last year was that most of the potatoes dried out or rotted away. Now I want to keep them in sawdust, in our by Antonia

Elephant Garlic
I planted Elephant Garlic cloves in containers last Autumn, they look like large leeks now, how do I know when to harvest them please? I generally wait until mid May then gently move the earth away from one to see how it is doing. Mine are looking by Charlie Mondahl
