flowers dude! have you visited the botanical gardens in edinburgh lately? wow! I have hanging baskets and planters because I can't get "down and dirty" any more due to arthritis. At least I can get down, but getting up again is a totally different matter by Methuselah

I picked a huge frilly, red Lollo Rosso lettuce the other day to get some leaves for my lunchtime sandwich. The fridge was stuffed with my produce from the garden so where to put the rest? It was so pretty it went into the flower vase and kept by abbed

Alternative uses for a shady raised bed
conifers on the other side of our shared fence, as this is the sunniest area of my garden I was thinking of starting a veg plot, but  a couple of you are saying it won't be good for veg.  Do you know how far away from conifer a veg plot should be and what by Alison Trafford

while the garden centre ones are sulking and I gave them lots of expensive ericacious soil. My Japanese maple is also from Morrisons. It can be hit or miss but April should be a good time. I have  a willow, herb garden, canes and plenty of very cheap by Ryan Lloyd

Yes - I do agree that bindweed is very pretty in the hedgerows and a nuisance in the garden - but the main problem around here in North Yorkshire is the invasion of Himalayan Balsam. It flowers late in the season so the jury is out on whether by Middle Man

Clay soil problem
and fertiliser but make your own compost to augment animal manure.  I can grow anything I want in my garden ,even things that like acid soil by careful placing of trees whose leaves break down to acidify the soil .  Start with robust plants like potatoes.  look by L0la
