Ruuner Bean roots- a problem?
? Are these not the nodules that fix the nitrogen in the soil and improve it I sowed the seeds myself and planted them Geoff. Regarding nitrogen nodules, I had heard that it is best to leave the roots in the ground for a while to increase the nitrogen but I didn't know how by Madeleine51

I can sow now.?  I have inside propigater. many thanks You can start off your tomatoes in a propagator now. You can start lettuce in pots (not propagator) peas and beans can also be started to be planted out when the weather improves - what part by flowergirl4

I have a bay tree 3ft tall in a big urn shapped pot abot 2ft, it has always been lovely but this winter the leaves have got a lot of black on them - I have sprayed with anti fungal, but still no improvement, I don't want to lose it any suggestions by Avril

to see if that improves matters - if the OP's soil is not actually acidic the plant may need extra help. Alina W wrote (see) Pieris does enjoy an acid soil but it doesn't need to be very acidic, unlike, say, a rhododendron. I'd suggest giving the ailing by Jan Wright

Wormery question
scheme. I wouldn't add anything more at the moment - the usual advice is to add little and often. Due to the cold wet weather we have had the worms have probably slowed down, I'd keep an eye on things over the next few weeks and if the weather improves by Swedboy

Ceanothus Concha - Concern about growing conditions
I have recently moved into a new house in East Yorkshire and have planted two Ceanothus Concha bushes. Before planting I looked to improve the drainage with a pea shingle layer onto the clay bed, before backfilling with a mix of top soil and compost by Neil ASQUITH

what is this thats killing all our hedge and what can i do
-without damaging the soil -look for a glyphosate based product-but do not expect overnight results Thats brilliant thankyou for all your help   I would definitely improve the soil first.  I know that privacy is important, but is there any way you could by christine de vries

Problem Clay soil
