Talkback: Greenhouse heating
* could be modified for a green house. The joy is they get hot inside the insulated tube even on cold days from solar radiation, the catch is it would need to be hooked up to some sort of a big heat sink under the greenhouse. (Added benefit of heating by funkyjunkie23

Talkback: Spider eggs and Christmas crackers
will help insulate against the even colder night temperatures- or is that just an old wives tale? I seem to get gargantuan monster-like spiders in the greenhouse. I am really scared of them, but I leave them be. If I put them out, they might make their way by dheckert

Greenhouse
mine, no electrics down there, & dont fancy freestanding parrafin types. A good wrapping with bubble wrap in the autumn will keep things warmer, but not warm, than no insulation. Being short & accident prone I dont even try to do the roof. I also put a by bunnysgarden

Hmm is this year going to be like the last?
was scorching , we were building house, all spare time was on it ... I was insulating upstairs ...in million degrees (felt like it) , lived n caravan ...no air con tourer, could hear neighbours on street laughing with paddling pools , hosepipes and BBQ 's by BrummieBen

Cloche/mini greenhouse made out of bubblewrap
bubblewrap might do the job. I know people use it to insulate proper greenhouses, but has anyone used it to make a complete cloche-type tent (this one is 2.2m long, 1m wide and 1m high)? Will it stand up to the wind on my hillside allotment? Does it let by Sam Ward

My dahlia tubers are not doing anything
greenhouse beginning of April and still have them in there just now.  The greenhouse had been insulated with bubble wrap which helps a lot. Some are about 12ins high and some smaller but about three or four still not showing signs of growth.  Living by Lavender Lady

to be had. Am spring cleaning the bathroom, replacing very pretty but insulatingly pathetic voile curtains with thermal curtains (have an 8' single glazed arched window in there). So a la Alys Fowler am saving the voile to peg over this year's Cavolo by Sue Wilson2

Will anything benefit from these old pipes?
material piled on top and around, to give the entrances some seclusion, and also to insulate them. Insulation is particularly important for a Winter home. .... building a compost heap on top would make it really warm. Thanks Gary but I've already got a by Robot

Battening down the hatches
. This one is also insulated around its' sides with polystyrene sheets. The 2 surviving dahlias & Chocolate cosmos, also in glazed pots, have been dried off still in their pots, the pot wrapped & a fleece cap tied over each They are now under a plant table by Dovefromabove
