.  The killer was having an initial cold spell with no insulating layer of snow followed by an unusually warm spell in February that got everything excited and was then followed by nasty hard frosts which froze them to death.  Sundry shrubs are also dead and my by Swedboy

Preventing frogs freezing to death in wdlife ponds

, dark and wet cover! How to avoid? @jazcaz: make your piles 1 cubic meter (1x1x1) or slightly larger. At this size they are self-insulating. Adding water is a part of above ground composting and should be done every time the pile is turned or dry by jazcaz

gardeners are opting to grow their own fruit and veg. so their(the bees') services are more in demand! I have bees living in the drill holes that were made for my cavity wall insulation. They chirp like birds. Its amazing to watch them. as bees by happymarion_

planks are hollow which provides some insulation, and certainly more likely to withstand uprooting and moving. Having recently purchased two 2M x 1M units, the 1M sections make life easy to relocate them. Doubt that colour will make any difference by antonihoe
