Frost damaged Ivy
growth protect it from frost, as it will be susceptible to damage. Of course as has been suggested the plant may have been damaged at the base or it maybe diseased.  There were some large leaved ivies about a few years ago. Not Hedera helix, can by Lavender Lady

, as well as evergreen honeysuckle. Clematis armandii grows fast but is not always hardy. Obviously, that kind of thing needs support. I have read that persian ivy (hedera colchica) is fast growing, but haven't grown it. Not sure about Ivy but Clemantis by nivlac

Ivy
bought all mine from Ikea! I had the same problem as you, I couldn't find a decent one anywhere. Accidently found a great one called Hedera Helix on a window shopping trip and I couldn't be happier with it. Most ivy's are fast growers anyway, but I chose by Sandra 3

Need help indentifing this plant/ shrub etc

Vigorous climber needed
it and give a beautiful spread of flowers through early summer, but as I say it will drop its leaves. The only thing I can think of that will cover it year round and not drop its leaves is the old Hedera ivy's, but a lot of people find these too invasive. It by Brilith

Wind damage to your plants..
- they and the white cyclamen hedera were the only plants here apart from rampant ivy when we moved here last summer - we rescued them when we and the builders dug out the hugely overgrown ivy hedges surrounding the garden and they got transplanted into the new 'Shady by Don my Ton

Climber to cover large wall
are Hedera (Ivies), some Hydrangea and Virgina Creepers. A mix of an evergreen Ivy and Creeper will look good and not that expenses. Should cover the wall quite quickly as well. When the self clingers are established you can add the like of Clematis by Dom

hostas .......... Depends on the plant - I love variegated hollies, thymes, elaeagnus, ivies (Buttercup ) and a lot more besides, but have several plants that have reverted to boring green, such as euonymus aureomarginata, despite pruning out green by Verdun
