drainage for tropical style garden
Going to do raised beds for tropical style garden with plants like palms, ferns, caster oil plant,cordylines and bamboo, would i start with a layer of stones then soil for drainage. Advice please. Bamboo and fern do not really need drainage by bluejan

Changing hydrangea????
I'm wondering if anyone has encountered a similar mystery?? I have lived in my current house for just over a year. I have a large hydrangea in my front garden that has flowered this year as a lace cap. Last year however (and i believe previous years by Shoots44

frost. Next time you choose such a plant, perhaps it may be wise to do some research first. I hope your garden is large, this plant will grow very big indeed.  The leaf stalks will be over your head. by pash2

already a large plant in a tub and planted it in the garden, it was fine until last summer, I dont know whether its the soil (heavy clay) lack of water, feeding ,pruning, disease, or heat (40 degrees) now only a few shoots coming from the ground by mrs figg

Should i leave daffs tuplips and bluebells that haven't flowered this year dig them up? Would a feed help them to flower next year? Spring bulbs growing blind can be caused by a few things. Ive being trialling things in my garden. If they are large by jellypot

I have a large collection of Aeoniums.  I leave them in the garden all summer and bring them into my south facing conversatory in September.  Immediately they are brought in they start dropping their lower leaves.  This continues throughout by Rosemary Farr

Used Compost?
Whats the best thing to do with used compost from pots and seed trays? Compost it, throw it onto the garden, re-use it to fill the bottom of large containers/pots and top the rest with fresh, bottom of hanging baskets. Just a few ideas - I'm sure by tom hewer
