Talkback: Adopting hens
, I'd like to adopt them if it's all right with you. I have to say that the girls have saved me bothering with the lawnmower this year - not that I ever had a 'lawn' but there were two green areas that had grass and assorted greenery. Not any longer, though by Brownbunny

Talkback: Seed germination
of next week, and will have to be brought back to perfect condition for the Olympics. The plan is that groundsmen will reseed with fresh seed, and will be allowing just 21 days for the grass to germinate, and to grow into a perfect lawn. One by Shuv

last year, you just can't win. I sowed free seeds from the front of another well known gardening magazine (sorry) and then planted out the plugs in my wildflower lawn. I hoped that they would give some extra colour as this is this areas first season by Jay7

ID of plant growing EVERYWHERE!
We moved into our new home in September and the garden was a bit of a wasteland. Rubble & rubbish everywhere. I cleaned it up, dug it all over, sowed grass seed and created some borders and a rockery. Very pleased with the end result by Roxanne Blanton

Composting Problem
discarding much of my compost. Is anyone able to tell me what I'm doing wrong? You are probably not turning it enough-grass cuttings will often "mat up" if not mixed in-every now and again take it all out and re-heap it-this where more than one heap/bin comes by Rachel Ormrod

't decomposed enough yet to be used as a mulch. Putting unrotted material on beds can actually harm plants. If you have a lawn, the best thing to do would be to layer wet grass clippings with the dry, half-rotted compost. Then it will all rot down well together by kaycurtis
