Lawns
I like to have a fairly nice lawn (I’m far from obsessive) it’s full of moss after the winter we have had,  it’s obviously fairly wet at the moment  –  not excessively as a gentle slope - we may have a ‘dry’ week next week, should I leave well alone by Devon Gardener

Best way to tidy areas outside of lawn, stop unwanted growth?
We have various trees, which surround the lawn, and in between these are areas full of unwanted shrubs and weeds. They have been persistent and a couple of gardeners we have spent a lot of money on have not been able to find a permanent cure by fiohaa

and the blackbirds love to mess up the bark looking for bugs. We have even seen blackbirds picking insects from the artificial grass! So yes to artificial grass for those who love a lawn and colourfull garden but no to weeds, mud and grass cutting. We too love by claire

Mowing the lawn, but not the frogs!
I've got tadpoles in my pond, donated to me by a friend. They are doing great and I can see them swimming and feeding actively in the water. However, my pond is fairly close to my lawn, and now I am worried about what will happen when the tadpoles by Tim Burr

HELP !!!!!what about ground cover plants- does it work?
weeds. If it did then there would be no weeds in our lawns. We have plenty of places where desirable plants cover the ground, but the weeds still come up and because there are lots of leaves and plant stems and flower, they are even harder to pull out by lucky3

Killing a lawn and starting again
Hi all, I've been fighting a losing battle with a poor, uneven, weed-riddled lawn. This year I plan to kill off the existing patch (about 30ft x 20ft) and relay with new turf. Last year I added a brick edging to the lawn which means I'm in a by sjlawton

Talkback: To spray, or not to spray?
My concern with glyphosate spraying is with chemical drift. The neighbors behind my garden sprayed weed killer on weeds in the turf. Some of it drifted over to my garden and damaged a conifer. It took years for the poor plant to recover. So I by happymarion

COMPOST QUESTION
Hello,Does anyone know if it is safe to use grass compost that has turned to lovely black dirt ,but you do not remember when you used weed n feed on the lawn.It has been sitting there for about 4 years now.I have only used weed n feed maybe twice by debra kazalski

Compost heap
carboard good with your lawn cuttings, and weeds whch are not dreadful things like dock or ground elder.  Egg shells, crushed, are good, all yur vegetable peelings etc. of course, the garden will rovide plenty in due course, just keep lightening the load by Rocket60
