Talkback: How to lay turf
company come and lay new turf yesterday. They were meant to rotavate the existing lawn, level it off as the old lawn was very bumby, put topsoil on and lay the new turf. All they've done is poured 2 cubic meters of topsoil (it's a 54m.sq. garden) on top by briand

Talkback: How to lay lawn turf
I have a very uneven lawn. I am thinking of using a glyosphate weedkiller to till the existing lawn and weeds, then rotovate the area, level it and then lay new turf. Would this work? And how long do I need to leave between using the glyosphate by Judiesscrapbook

Laying new Turf
We are going to lay new turf soon as a wet winter, a dog and no stepping stones to get to the chickens have left us with a complete mess of a garden! Do we need to take off what is left of the existing lawn? My husband think we can just dig it all by Olivedog

Laying turf on a gravel/soil/dirt mixture - possible?
i would remove the majority if not all of the larger stones give the space a good raking then apply a thin layer of topsoil, dependant on what your soil is like, and water well then lay your turf on top of that but be sure to top up any rutts by munroar

New house, new lawn, mushroom hell!!!!
Did you lay the lawn or did you buy it already laid? Is it seeded or turfed? Can you be a bit more specific, Cat? It was laid by the people who buil he house. It was turf and not well laid. I've tried to ask them about it but it was a contractor by Cat77

Lawn Problems
New turf laid in November to our new bungalow.  Before laying turf we dug the ground over and thought we had got rid of lots of lily of the valley bulbs - obviously not, as they are now forcing the turf up.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated by Milo642
