Bit the bullet! Here comes spring...
cold, except the conservatory will still be warm with the heater keeping them going!!! Same here with the oil, annoying thing is how much more it costs when you go to pick some up. Apparently it costs more to maintain the pump than to drive a Lorry a by * Red Dahlia *

Talkback: How to repair a lawn patch
very informative re creating and maintaining a good lawn. It seems to be an ongoing battle with my front lawn, which is in shade during the afternoon - however, I will try seed for shady lawns. Also, I have a couple of patches of bare earth left by Judiesscrapbook

Roses
. That will encourage them to shoot from near ground level, and in future you'll be able to prune more lightly to maintain a good shape. Emma, what Alina says is correct but there are always "buts", You have re potted the roses so you could trim them back about a third by EMMA HOWARTH

Are Rhododendrons roots poisonous?
Moved into a new house a year ago which has a wonderful established beech hedge fronting the road.  It is in the deeds of the house that we have to keep it maintained and at a certain height, etc.  Indeed the road is Beechway and was named after by Toni Bingham

Photinia Red Robin pruning?
throughout spring, summer and early autumn to maintain the red leaves. A friend advises to prune after a full moon as apparently the plants can tolerate the loss of limb/leaf better at this time of the month. The next full moon is 3rd July so I'll be busy by Green Magpie

damaged lawn - female dog
the research first perhaps speak to your local vet. Kinds Regards Steve When we had a female dog, I used to find that a full watering can of water was enough to neutralise the urine and maintain a decent-looking lawn. Same problem, a mini schnauser pees on lawn by Merlin P

Ground cover plants - suggestions
too tall and will suppress weed growth. But the plants will also need to be hardy enough to withstand being stood on with a step ladder.  So that we can maintain the hedge behind the border. Also nice colour or berries etc would be a bonus... Thanks by Kevin

Sh**s Sorrel
. It is very annoying since it seems to have extensive roots with no woody bit to pull out but just very brittle clumps that go really deep. I eventually moved my roses and maintain my front garden with vigorous weeding almost to the point of extinction by Robot

them in the best conditions to maintain strong healthy growth.  My problem here is not enough air blasting around the whole garden so I have to try and plant things so that there's as much space and air circulating around them as possible and keep by lottyh40

Blank Canvas - Where to Start?!
Recently moved into a new build house which comes with a couple of concrete slabs outside the back door and the rest of the "garden" is a boggy muddy mess. I've had experience maintaining a garden but with this, I have no idea where to start. I live by NKC
