Is it OK to put citrus fruit peel in the composter? I eat grapefruit regularly and have a lot of peel but am not sure if it will be OK I'd stick it in the worm farm just to be safe.. Thank you Neil. I'm new to composting but it just didn't seem by welsh dragon

personal experience on composting
to be damp but not wet, so cover it to prevent rainfall making it all into a soggy mess. In scientific terms, if it gets too wet and isn't turned, the 'good' air-loving (aerobic) bacteria which do the composting will die-off and be replaced with anaerobic by Sam Glendinning

compost bin in 20 years of composting...@happymarion - I think they like warm heaps, so it would make sense that a new heap is more attractive to slow worms as it's breaking down. I am very jealous of your slow worms!Kate Ive never had a hedgehog in my bin by oldchippy

Help with ericacious compost
Please help. I have a raised bed and half is ericacious compost and half is "normal "compost. My ericacious has no worms at all and wonder if this is why it is difficult to fork as it seems full of roots. How would I improve the soil so its more by jackie-gardener

Could you tell me where I can buy the coir Monty uses to make his own potting compost yvonne1, I believe he is talking about coconut coir, and you can buy it at just about any place that sells potting soil. A lot of applications where peat has been by yvonne1

big fat zero.  You need to wait unil the casts and lawn are completly dry before brushing them away. You can also make sure you reduce the amount of food available by removing grass clippings and leaves regulary. Worms are benficial to the garden by BILLYC

White bugs infesting compost bin
in the compost bin too.  All those worms, slugs, woodlice and the trillions of good microscopic bodies that all help make the compost smell sooooo sweet and sooooo good in comparison with that we buy. A fellow sufferer - yay!  On your experience I won't do by HyppyByker

wire worm how to get rid
How can i get rid of these nasty little worms all my old books refer to chemicals that are now no longer available !! I suffer with the damn things I binned any compost in pots. I have found out they dont like ground coffee so I sprinkled some among by andy young
