the wild.  This year is a very poor sloe year, after last year's bumper crop.  It can make an impenertable hedgerow; not much will tackle those spines. You can also make damson gin.  Damsons are much more adaptable to various uses in the kitchen. by Derek Mulready

Has anyone any experience of making these as a globe like box? I can obtain some at a very low price and as I like the leaves etc was wondering if they clip and can be kept in check, I have read they are very vigorous  They will be in pots Bjay by Rosa carriola

Compost bin/cold frame
I have a very small garden, but still grow flowers and fruit and vegetables in one raised bed (8'x4') small borders and containers. But would like to produce my own compost, and make a small cold frame! Any ideas for sizes, materials and plans would by Terry Quinn
