to seed or not to seed??
my lawn looks horrid, is it ok to seed it now?? If the soil is warm enough- but it will be slow to germinate- grass seed is not that expensive why not just give it a try? Yes, go for it! Not exactly the same but I've just sown my wildflower meadow by denise butcher

Making wildflower turf
- to others is a patch of weeds. Not that keen myself-but each to his-or her- own If your seed trays are A4 size, then you'll need 16 trays to make just one square metre of meadow. Personally I'd sow just the flower seeds (no grass), in invididual cells in a by Gardengirl..

"Grass Fashion"
not be much help at ground level, but it could look quite effective from above. Sounds great, but I was thinking more along the lines of allowing the grass to grow naturally, that way there will be more of a meadow effect and it would be bettter for wildlife by Karen Green

Ground Cover Options?
a wild flower meadow mix would be good too. They can look lovely. Here is a pic of one we saw in Yorkshire last summer.   Seems ideal for wild meadow planting. Dig it in or weedkiller later when you decide what to do Heathers too.....the carnea by SebUK

Talkback: Grasshoppers, butterflies and wolf spiders
wildlife meadow has also been the source of many new insects and butterflies to our garden. Although not as exciting or exotic as your findings we can all still have a good variety of 'life' in our own plots by andrew littleford

Purple loosestrife
self. Is it really as much of a thug as I'm begining to think it is? It self seeds round my garden, I just pull up the ones I don't want. I have had one for some years - growing in a wild flower meadow, in rough grass, on heavy clay soil. It has clumped by tattianna
