After the storms.......
Despite the torrential rains and wind, the ornamental grasses are still swaying and overlording the garden. Miscanthus, panicums, Calamagrostis varieties are still in flower and providing structure and movement and colour. Interspersed with red by Verdun

Ornamental grasses
Just as the late perennials are disappearing my miscanthus grasses are coming into their own. They will usually hold their flowers through the winter to make an impact. They come in a variety of foliage colours and variegation plus autumn tints by Verdun

? Beware! Grasses are addictive. Thanks all for your advice, I dont have a picture but  i think it is a type of miscanthus grass, if that helps. Ok, miscanthus tough n easy. They are warm season grasses meaning they start growth early in spring. As said by goldfinch2

Evergreen grasses
I have a large number of miscanthus, molinias and pennisetums. I love them all - but they're looking very tatty - and I'm dying to cut them down! Some experts say "do it in February before the new growth starts, so you don't damage anything". Others by Berkley

Moving a Cotinus
litre pot. Layering is good too. If you did decide to buy new one why not go for Royal Purple? It's slightly darker, I think, more blackly/purple, so you have two different varieties. Grown with a eucalyptus gunnii or miscanthus variegatus by tulipgirl

Talkback: Late-summer flowers
the winter, others quickly collapse into piles of mush. Most grasses come into their own in autumn so leave them to stand until Spring. Betty - grasses such as Miscanthus look great over winter even when the stems go beige, it would be a shame to cut them by ruth harris

A light feed via a thin mulch of compost in spring helps but it depends on the grass. Imperata, deschampsia, miscanthus and hakonechloa seem to benefit from thicker mulch and feed. Nothing though on stipas. by carolyn gray

What type of Bamboo??
, consider alternatives to bamboo. Ornamental grasses like miscanthus, stipa, Calamagrostis grow quickly and flower well. while choosing best one you need to go with size.. You will find that many bamboo species can vary considerably in size depending by ziggy
