Talkback: Cake day
Hi, I'm considering opening for the NGS. This morning I had a visit from the area (Cumbria) representative of the NGS. The thought of so many visitors in one day scares me a little - I expect that once I have my shady borders better planted by Cathy

Pretty good, Yakram, but one mistake. what about a dogwood. reply to Yakram regarding the tree quiz. Can you say that again in English for us not so latinised gardeners please. I thought the second tree was a monkey puzzle tree. reply to morning by Yakram

Sweat pea -disaster
, you could probably pick up some seedlings quite cheaply from a nursery/ market/ car boot sale. Nothing else gives you scent like sweet peas. You could buy some already germinated babies. Or morning glory is pretty, in the morning. And canary creeper by * Red Dahlia *

ideas for a container on a SW facing wall
ericaceous compost? I would go for lavender and an  annual climbers  morning glory? Or an evergreen clematis-freckles? I'm looking for inspiration so open to all ideas, wanted something quite showy and I detest the smell of lavender (I know, I'm weird) hehe by debanslow

Plants and shrubs in containers.
and flowers- in the containers they just looked sad That is when it becomes tricky and confusing I agree. I grew some morning glory , put some in a pot and didn't feed them. Loads of flowers. Had some spare , so put them in hanging baskets which were fed every by jean riley
