Wet Ground
in the summer? Not a good idea. Thirsty evergreens like leylandii will cast a lot of shade which will not do your lawn any good at all, and deciduous trees will not draw up any moisture when you most need it in winter, and will result in a lot of moss, followed by fazzini

drainage and stops moss or algae growing on the surface. a very light grit not your road or gravel grit. alpine grit is good but hard to find (around here anyway) I went to the pet shop part of the GC and got aquarium gravel. Comes in various grades by Dutch-Ellen

Bad lawn
found that the moss and weed were just such hard work that I would see if the local chaps could do anything.  Well - the lawn is now a lawn (as oppossed to a hopeful patch of grass) and the cost is cheaper than the cumulative costs of seed/weed/feed etc by GW

Lawn levelling
for all your great ideas. Like you all I'm a stickler for the 'perfect' lawn. I may just make one like you suggest Verdun and Brumbull. I'll keep you in the loop how I get on with it. Happy Easter all! My lawn has so much moss, there is no grass left, it by Anthony Marcella

Preparing to lay a lawn
problems with worm castings. Most common problem with lawns is moss. Main cause is lack of drainage and shade. If you give the turf excellent drainage at it's roots, your lawn will be fairly easy to maintain and look wonderful. Ensure you take all by My first garden

What is this strange plant?
to be somewhere between lichen/moss and ferns.  One of the first things I learnt about in Botany many years ago - fascinating 'plant' - it thrives in dark damp places and will disappear when conditions dry out and light levels improve.  If it survived by leisurelypainter
