Talkback: To spray, or not to spray?
or even a bucket with no holes; they give up the ghost after a while especially in dry weather and it seems a pity to waste the humus. Is there on organic moss killer for lawns? Or nearly organic? My lawn is half grass half moss, and it seems that the moss by happymarion

What do I do about persistent moss on my borders, both soil and shrub stems? Would lawn sand kill the plants? I have a white foam type substance growing in my compost bin. i presume it is bacteria. Do i need to get rid of it, and if so how. I would by Compost Problem

New veg grower and advice needed pls
? The planter has been well watered has good quality soil and has been fleeced up. One other potential issue is that the surface of the soil seems to have a slight green moss in some places but a quick push with the fingers and the soil looks really good again by Bettyslad

Going to try the theory of 2 cuts a week
Right, I want my lawn to thicken up, and try and get rid of the weeds in it. So, I've just spread my fertiliser and moss killer, (well at start of week day before it's piddled down) and now I'm going to religously cut the lawn twice a week. I shall by BrummieBen

lot of bare parches, moss and fungus in abundance. I treated one with a recomended solution which had no effect. I decided that regular cutting, scarifying and keeping them free from debris was the best, and the cheapest!, way to go about restoring by denise butcher

When to improve soil?
redesigned to get rid of 2/3rds of the lawn and introduce some raised beds. The bits where the old lawn was were dug over in the late autumn but are now flat and waterlogged again (no wonder there was so much moss on the lawn). I have just taken delivery of a by cazzieb

Wide and short garden - very shady.
As my  garden is wide and short I am at a loss how to make it so that it is not all visible at once. My garden is very shady (lots of very tall trees at the land beyond my garden). My lawn involves a constant battle with moss (but my husband wants by susan_lily

), moss which i use for lining my baskets. unfortunately after a few weeks his lawn was completly covered in creeping buttercup which had never happened before. I presume the tines had cut through the plants and distributed it over the rest of the lawn by steve1262

Slimey, mossy courtyard, help please!
. The surface is tarmac which looks pretty ugly anyway. I would love to gravel it after pressure washing but would this get even more green and nasty? Any advice greatly appreciated. Possibly -but it would be a lot safer surface-you can get a moss/algae killer by catrinhudson
