Talkback: Collecting fallen leaves
! I have bags and bags of leaf mould from last year and shreddings and a bin full of ‘ready’ compost too, so I have used the leaves as a mulch under the shrubs, and that should give good cover for hibernating creatures. I also had so many apples I have by James Bond

Weeping trees dragging on the ground
I have two weeping trees as above which are constantly 'sweeping' the bark mulch around and under them on to the lawn. Will I cause problems for the trees if I cut the ends of the stems off?  If it should be OK, when is the best time to do it please? by nightingalebrook

Something digging up my Cherry Blossom trees
Afternoon All, I'm new here and I live on the borders of Northants and Rutland. Back in November I bought 3 trees for the garden. I planted them and then cover the ground with mulch afterwards. Starting 2 weeks ago, I have woken up every morning by astroboy

very free draining.  My question is would it be best to lift and store them in the greenhouse, or cover with mulch and leave where they are?  The plants are surrounded by day lillies, dahlias, kaffir lillies, and many other plants which I intend by Dudley Horler

Why are blackbirds digging the garden
In all the years I have been gardening and feeding birds this is the first year that the blackbirds have decided to dig up everything in sight.  The garden looks a complete mess after a couple of days, bark mulch all over the paths, bulbs and plants by Jobird

Chic Weed
it flowers. But there's no easy answer, I'm afraid - just weeding and mulching where possible. by Christopher Dennison
