Camellia with leaves turning brown
discoured and a bit sick looking. I have got heavy clay soil, but I put some mulch etc under when I . Planted it - could it just be a bit waterlogged with all this rain? Camellias need an acid soil - do you know if your soil is acid? by Jontydoggle

potting compost
to use. Many thanks.......TGG. The nutrient balance in it can change - nitrogen, for example, can go up. Rather than throw it, or use it as mulch to improve garden soil, mix half and half with some fresh compost and use it. by TheGardenGoblin

Chillpings
Chillpings, where can I get them? Hi Vivienne, Firtree clippings and conifer clippings are acidic - I don't grow fruit so I'm  not sure if this is what your friend meant.  Great for Rhoddies and azaleas as a mulch though. by Vivienne Horner

Geranium maculatum Beth Chatto
flowering. Maybe it needs more shade but it also needs good moisture. Does it get dry there? Even now, I would move some soil away from the base and make a recess and fill with water. Do,it few times to saturate the soil and then mulch by butterflybrain

Tidying up herbaceous plants for winter
friend who clears all dead growth, which enables her to fork over her beds and apply a winter mulch of well rotted manure and compost over the plants before winter really sets in. Is there a preferred method (from the plants/wildlife point of view by Tim Burr

Weeping trees dragging on the ground
I have two weeping trees as above which are constantly 'sweeping' the bark mulch around and under them on to the lawn. Will I cause problems for the trees if I cut the ends of the stems off?  If it should be OK, when is the best time to do it please by nightingalebrook
