Needing old mouse or vole nests
Hi, I wish to create a Bumble Bee nest box, but I've read that they seldom get used unless you use mouse or vole nest material as packing inside the flowerpot. Something to do with the smell that queen bumbles are geared for. It's a project I wish by BrummieBen

after 3yrs of no birds nesting in my boxes & when they did it was usually the great tit..am pleased to announce the arrival of 2 boxes being nested in & they are Blue tits...have not seen any for a number of years...wonderful... cambridge Hello by jean linsley

pair in their area.  I know birds don't like nesting in boxes anywhere near bird tables or other feeding stations. The very first time i had a box the blue tits inspected it within minutes of putting it up and some nested successfully first year by Jess is in the Garden

Bird Boxes
year, I don't worry about it. We have a box that has been hidden in shrubbery for years, its impossible to get to it but it hasn't stopped the Bluetits from nesting.  Birds will clean out a box themselves so I wouldn't worry about it. Better to provide by staffsmags

Bird box v bird feeding
breezy because its a bit of a wind tunnel with the next door house, so not sure it will be ideal for a bird box. I think your sparrow terrace will be ok on the back of your house - my garden's not that much bigger than yours and sparrows nest in the roofs by Tim Burr
