Depends what you want to grow- but it has to be an economical proposition all my seeds onions tomatoes chillie etc and then cuttings Honestly- it doesn't warrant the cost for the ordinary gardener-it isn't just light you need but heat as well-the idea by Rick greenfingers

That's shallot!
Grown wide range of veg but never shallots before. Got some on order. They seem straightforward enough, in theory, but are they? I've got 12 "bulbs" (?) so I guess they are spaced further apart than onions but otherwise need same treatment. Hi by Verdun

rotten potatoes
patch of ground. Brassicas i.e cauli,cabbage,sprouts,broccoli,swede. I'd be tempted to have a good dig around or you could end with more potatoes growing. A good acronym for remember crop succession is 'People Like Bunches Of Roses', Potatoes-Legumes-Brassicas-Onions by wendy 8

New Vegetable Plot
Hi Everyone. I'm new here and new to gardening! I have a good sized veggie plot and have already planted 2nd early seed potatoes (before the snow) and put my onion sets in last week. I have runner and broad beans, carrots, spinach, cabbage by Ali Newbie Gardener

Seedlings and frost
mix, cosmos, poppy, parsley, rocket, spinach, chives, coriander, spring onion. All are tiny, just starting to sprout true leaves. Cosmos and possibly rocket might appreciate some fleece or a sheet of newspaper. The restshould be OK. Seeds that have by PaperFlowers

Today's dilemma

plants get wet everytime it rains and my greenhouse plants whenever I water them. hiIt is the first time Ive every tryed to grow anything in my garden I bought myself a greenhouse, everything is going great tomatoe onions,beetroot,and losts off other veg by jogriff

What veg and salad can be grown in clay-flint-chalk soil?
that also contains chalk. Is there anything that can grow in those conditions? Mainly I've used big plastic tubs filled with organic compost. Depending on the weather, I've grown onions, spring onions, lettuces and radishes. Carrots and parsnips have by Bob Flowerjuice

Square Foot Gardening
, and what I didn't have time to pick and use, I just left to run to flower. This in turn looked fantastic and also served to help the local bee population out.  Even now, I am still using the leaks, onions and parsnips. The system may or may not work if I by cliffbutler
