spring onions
Why do my spring onions take forever to grow? I am still waiting for those planted as seeds last year to get to a size big enough to eat-  the seed packet said they'd only take 6 weeks- not more than 12 months! I have tried them in pots by MaggieL

Red Onion Sets
We have just lifted our red onions, some of which had bolted,  and cut off the leaves about 2" from the onion.   Can we just cut the onions up now for the freezer or do we have to dry them out first?  This is the first time we have grown by Mrs M

I planted onion sets in the winter.  They now seem to be forming flower heads even though the onions are still very small. What should I do?  Am I meant to cut off the flower head to stop all energies going into that? Yes - you've got it.  The by garden potterer

Talkback: Knowing your onions
I have grown and successfully stored onions for about five years now, usually managing to grow enough to last up until the next years crop is ready for lifting. I always buy 'Setton' as sets to plant out in late winter/early spring and after lifting by kenneth

Autumn planted onion sets
Hi All Last autumn I planted some onion sets at my allotment. I was wondering if it would be beneficial to rake lightly and carefully between the bulbs and add some growmore or some other fertiliser at this time. Any ideas?     I planted some too by Madeleine51
