Sowing Winter Onions
Hi, I've been given some onion sets to grow over winter but unfortunately all I know is that they are over winter onions, I don't have a variety name or any growing instructions. Any general instructions on how to grow them would be greatly by Leggi

What eats onion sets?
Last autumn I planted about 150 red and white onions that I'd started off in modules indoors at my allotment. After a few weeks I realised the birds were amusing themselves by pulling them up, so we fleeced them for winter. When we took the fleece by Leggi

Planting Onion Sets
Hi, I have some onion sets to go in, but given that it's been raining quite a lot would it be a bad idea to plant them in sodden soil? Thanks Perhaps you could cover the ground with polythene or a cloche for a few days to give it a chance to dry out by David White

Talkback: Drying onions
I usually lay the harvested garlic & onions over the lower shelf of my greenhouse staging until nicely dry. This works very well I wish to know why my parsnips, though a nice size and weight are scabby, rather than the nice smooth appearance by Denise Peters

Onion sets ?? rotting
Hi has anyone got advice on my autumn planted onion sets.  They seem to have come to a stand still and when I pulled one up to have a look the skin was dark brown, soggy and just slid off the onion. I also noticed a little white worm like creature by CHRISTINE LORIMER
