Talkback: Crazy about colchicums
I have had serious problems with pigeons on brassicas this year but not any on my colchicums, perhaps because they are on such a steep slope!! Just been out to check the current flowers and all OK! Yes netting should do the trick, but hopefully by Lorrie Flannery

Red Hot Pokers
Hello My red hot poker large orange flowers in the summer months, at the base of the stem has a lot of as i can only describe as slime. which i presume is plant rot, where water has got in over the winter. they are planted on a very exposed bank by 12 michele

each plant; the remaining stalks will develop over the Spring/Summer.  Stop pulling stalks in July to let the plant gain strength. Remove any flower heads, they will be obvious. To prepare for cooking; cut off the leaf at the top of the stalk by trishaloulou

out of season plants
or white. and roses in red, orange, pink, etc but not blue. I quite fancy purple crocosmia in may! I have some very early flowering narcissi but they don't fit in. It's not their time. Glad someone feels the same as me about Chelsea, Verdun - marvellous by Bookertoo

Aftercare of geums
'm hoping she'll set seeds. I have two un-named much smaller Geums with little orange flowers on that haven't done at all well this year though. Orange flowers, but not sure of variety. I have just spotted a GW blog which said to split them in spring by Penninepetal

Pruning a Broom
to harm the plant or will it resprout from the cut off point. My memory tells me they don't like being transplanted and dont take well to pruning. The flowers are red orange if that is of any help. You can prune broom straight after flowering, but only cut by Swedboy

Can anyone help identity this plant?
, followed by large orange/red berries.  Ours has been in the garden for several years and only flowered for the first time this year. Hope this helps.      soon tell, break a leaf, the iris stinks. Or dig one up. Sternbergia is a bulb, Iris foetidissima by Luckydingo

home grown citrus trees
! Years ago when my children were small I grew lots of little plants from oranges, lemons and grapefruits - I kept them in a conservatory/porch and most of them were little more than 8" high and still planted in yoghurt pots when they began flowering by pam12

who does not no what it is aswell it grows off the older wooded stems it has bright orange bell shaped fowers the leaves are sticky to the touch ive never seen it in garden centres or anyone elses garden to find out what it is it started flowering by jrsniece
