Bare root Sloe tree
I hope this is the right section to post. I got through the post today a bare root sloe tree. This was ordered months ago. The problen I have is that the ground is frozen with lying snow on it. If I planted the trees in compost in a large pot would by daveinnorfolk

pruning a young laurel hedge
Hi all this is my first post so here goes. I planted about 100 laurel plants from pots to make a hedge in the spring.It has done really well and I was wondering should I cut back some of the new growth now in order for it to thicken up at the base by Ray 3

Begonia Aricot shades

Moving lily bulbs
the spring bulbs are finished.  missed a word out in the original post....lol.....it should have read ;- When is the best *time* to disturb the bulbs in order to do this ? After they have flowered or when you plant them up in January. I think MD was a little by marshmello

Roses Offer
I ordered and received the Alan Titchmarsh roses offer last December and planted them as instructed - they were bare roots, soI planted them at an angle in a mix of soil and a little (not a lot, to avoid root burn) compost. Thery over by granville-harper

Talkback: Powdery mildew
Apparently mildew has been a prolific problem this year according to Mail Order Trees from whom I purchased a 2 year old Amelanchier canadenisis which quickly developed the disease. Have pruned heavily and will spray with fungicide. I have powdery by hmroot

experiences with free offers of plants
From time to time I succumb to the free offers in the magazine, and have mixed results, which makes me wonder how other people get along with them. Late last year I ordered 4 Papaver plants, paying only the postage, as usual with these offers by Jennie McWalter
