Planting between grasses
I have a selection of ornamental grasses in my boarder but they need a bit of an injection of colour. Any suggestions as to what I can plant in between? Will you share us with the pictures? so maybe we will give you better suggestions...  Looks a by Yvonne Lloyd

alpine mayhem

After the storms.......
Despite the torrential rains and wind, the ornamental grasses are still swaying and overlording the garden. Miscanthus, panicums, Calamagrostis varieties are still in flower and providing structure and movement and colour. Interspersed with red by Verdun

is anything to go by. Better to forget lawns all together and go for biodiversity. You will get beauty by the bucket-load, lots of wonderful food, and if you really like grass, can grow the splendid ornamental grasses that sway in the wind or small tufted by claire

Grasses
of the rockery he has put compost and will cover it in matting and now wants to add some ornamental grass then eventually pebbles along with the rest of his collection of rocks  Does anyone has any suggestions what he can put in it.. They  cant be too high.  Any by summerpots

slope
few plants that would look good on a slope, for example ornamental grasses, flowering bulbs, maybe bearded iris at the top near the shingle stones. The top's going to be drier than the bottom, so that's a consideration as well.But maybe you could give by pc2

when the grass has gone yellow. I buy ornamental yarrow in assorted colours for my borders but also have the wild form growing happily in a partciularly dry patch of grass.  I leave it uncut and it flowers on short stems and attracts a host of insects by jegpad

pampass grass
are not that deep but very matted, so a bit of wellie is essential.   I was advised to burn mine as a method of cutting back. Lovely bonfire......but the PG never recovered - sad! Probably for the best John Ornamental grasses like stipa gigantea, Calamagrostis by gorby

which plants would be best?
in the clay like soil x Hi Chellie I googled "plants suited to clay soil" you'll find lots of plants. I know my brother had clay soil and he had a great display with an ornamental rhubarb. I have one now they are a real statement plant, good for height in a by chellie
