Are Heliotrope hardy
Can anyone tell me whether Heliotrope are a hardy plant or a bedding plant.  I live in Suffolk and have a fairly sheltered garden.  Any advice would be helpful.  I would say Heliotrope are a tender perennial - they can be overwintered somwhere frost by Linda Taylor2

Talkback: How to harvest garlic
mine. I have grown garlic for a few years now.  I plant in October/November and overwinter.  It has appeared now.  When the leaves go yellow I investigate to see how the bulb looks and if O.K. I harvest and hang up to dry.  Some people eat it 'green by Denzle43

Greenhouse
Although I have been gardening for many years, I am only now, about to buy my first greenhouse.  The choice is bewildering!  Should it be wood or metal, set on bricks or the ground.  I will mainly use it for cuttings and overwintering and growing by Pam san

Osteospernum
, the variegated white you spoke about....maybe Gweek Variegated?....is slightly more tender. I take cuttings of this but also dig it up and overwinter in the greenhouse. The others are left in the ground but take cuttings too. However, if your plants by ChristyRose

begonia corms
I have just checked my overwintered begonia corms to find that most have at least 5-6 inch shoots. Do I pinch the shoots off or can I do anything?  Corms were stored inside in a paper bag and I have about 60 of them so really need to save them by jimsco1

Seedlings
I have some young seedlings which have been growing in an unheated greenhouse, will they be ok over the winter months or should I bring them into somewhere warmer or frost free? The greenhouse has bubblewrap up for some protection, but the plants by Karen7

Talkback: Overwintering chillies
for the whole winter. On the other hand, lots of the fruits are still green until now so I don't really want to kill them yet. I have one more experiment I want to do: overwinter them, and in late spring give them a hair cut and root cut, then re-plant in new by Mandy

Talkback: How to plant shallots
one, although how long do shallot seeds take to grow into bulbs? Do I need to lift them and overwinter? I really needed to know how far apart to grow shallots in a container. I have planted out shallots in trays in the greenhouse, early jan. however by irishecho
