verbena bonariensis
Can anyone suggest why my verbena bonariensis every year looks healthy at the end of winter and then dies off outside? I do hedge my bets though and take cuttings each autumn which I find easily root, and overwinter in a cold greenhouse where most by MaggieL

Broad beans
Is it recommended to pinch out the growing tips of broad beans? Hi Russell, only when they are fully grown (ie about 3-4ft tall) and that is only to prevent blackfly infestation.  I usually wait until one plant has a sign of blackfly, then pinch out by Russell Parry

Orlaya grandiflora
bit vague and after going on the Internet I am even more confused. I would like to overwinter it to plant out in the spring, so if anyone out there has grown it I would appreciate any tips. Thanks. C. That's really pretty. Not heard of that before. We by lovetogarden

Standard Fuscia problem
resolve it?     In a container or in the ground? If its a standard it should be grown in a pot and overwintered in a greenhouse or conservatory . If it's not hardy it will die and if it is hardy it will die back and shoot from the base and be a standard by Leogirl

Lupins from seed
ripen first.  Leave the flowering stalk on the plant until the pods turn brown, then cut them off and you can collect the seed by opening the pods.  You can sow them straight away if you have a coldframe to overwinter the young plants in, or save them by Caroline Bridges

Talkback: Overwintering chillies
chillies all year round and some of our plants were years old. I like you tried to overwinter but gave up and just keep the seeds now but start early in the season. This year I was harvesting chillies in July and still have much to go... I do understand by jk

Lamium and Ajuga propagation
, as I moved the main big plant into the garden at the end of last Summer.  I took the offsets as a bit of an experiment so they were overwinted in a coldframe and then I planted them out earlier this year. I think if you did it now they wouldn't take by kate1123

Bare root geraniums
I ordered some geraniums and they came today.  They were bought from Morgan and Thompson but when they came they were bare root plants (I thought they would be plug plants) and the paperwork that came with them did not say whether to put them by lavenderlass

My dahlia tubers are not doing anything
I overwintered my dahlia tubers in the garage - I planted them in compost around mid March (same time as Monty Don).  On GW last week he took cuttings from his ones but mine have not done anything at all.  Nothing is coming through at all Does by Lavender Lady

planting mirabilis jalapa tubers
to plant the tubers? I'll probably plant some in pots and the rest in the border using normal compost with s bit of added grit. I thought you could overwinter them as dahlias? I've never kept the tubers, they're so quick and easy from seed and produce by Swedboy
