Talkback: Insulating a cold frame
, aluminium framed- can be successfully insulated with sheets of polystyrene, such as comes with packaging, around the sides, with extra fleece sheets on top of any plants inside. I would only tend to use a plastic greenhouse for over-wintering small hardy by coleman

Agapanthus advice
I've been given 2 large pots of overwintered agapanthus complete with yellow dry leaves. One pot has roots poking thru the base and topsoil and the other pot has cracked. How do I deal with them please ? I'm keen to keep them going and put the pots by Ican

Something better change [ and it has ]
Just in from  a great day in the garden. Not the usual seven layers on, in fact almost balmy. Have been dividing perennials. I love the idea that you are getting lots of plants for free and you know they will do well because they have already done by punkdoc

I bought this last year and it spent winter in my cold greenhouse. The temperature will have gone down to minus 15C like the rest of the garden but it would have been dry. I planted it out in spring and it's lovely. I don't want to dig it up by nutcutlet

too cold to plant Perenials?
greenhouse or somewhere to over-winter plants you may have a problem You could try saving the Dahlia tubers for next year. I bought two a few weeks ago from the nearly dead section at a local GC and they are currently flowering for Britian, seems a shame by Rose lady

Rosemary
in the compost until you can be sure they have rooted - others may have different views but I think that Rosemary is not a hungry plant.  I have some rosemary grown from seed earlier this year with about 3 sets of leaves - so very small - will be overwintering by Olivia Tang

Late winter cuttings - what next
I took some cuttings in September and a few have overwintered with minimal growth. I have been taking the tips out of the long growing shoots when they appear. Some cuttings look better than others! What now though. I split them from the cutting by * Red Dahlia *
