I'll try this as I have horsetail every where. I sprayed the horsetail and other weeds in the cracks of the pavement this spring with a weed killer. This caused all the weeds to die except for the horsetail which seem is bigger and healthier without by elisestewart

. Another factor to consider is the size and type of weed. Larger perennial weeds with deeper roots will take longer than small annuals. Another point to note is that Roundup gel doesn't include that fast acting formula that is in the ready to spray Roundup by Tootles

Will this work for a new part lawn?
them.   I try to grow to high standard but that doesnt mean masses of work.  I mulch, for example, to prevent weeds, etc. Grow perennials that do not need stakIng....some do need it of course.....and do numerous things to ensure low workrate Rosebush by roseblush

'll need to start with plugs or even larger plants. If you're starting from scratch you can sow a wildflower mix to suit your soil after removing perennial weeds Poppies, cornflowers, corncockle etc are cornfield flowers (or weeds if you're a farmer by denise butcher

and so on. If they're not willing to show you where the soil came from and guarantee against perennial weeds then look elsewhere. Excellent - thanks Joe_the_Gardener It's worth giving your local council a try, many sell bags of soil conditioner/ compost by BigMAL

A Vetch Maybe ?
blue flowers.  Its a bit clingy, like a pea plant.  I haven't seen or heard of it before, but I would love to have some more plants like it. I think its a perennial. Do any one here have one?  Maybe you could tell me how to propagate it? Can I take by Joy H

Please help me design my garden - part 2
. This edge had got a layer of weed-net and is covered by bark.  It is shaded almost all day.  Last year I (optomistically) planted a couple of hydrangea which unsurprisingly haven't done well, although they are just about still alive.  I was planning by Laura P
