Clearing nettles
, leave them on athe lawn or a path to dry out for a few days so they are properly dead.   Best to do this with all perennial weeds. Was it SBK brush wood killer?  Bit extreme for nettles, but you can still get this from Amazon ( * I think * ).  Any by Dorisduck

what can I put in compost
'm sure it's ok to put bits I cut back from perennials. Some pelargoniums I tries to overwinter died and had whitish dust on them, can these be included? What about weeds from cracks in paving including grass? Finally what about moss growing on the top by Bev Pounsett-Krynauw

Plant identifying help
I just moved to a house with a wonderful and established garden.  There is a plant growing and I have no idea if it is a weed or a plant.  It grows a bit like a rosette with long furry green leaves (about 25cm long).  No sign of any flowers.  I by GlosGardener

Killing a lawn and starting again
on the green leaf it touches. Then rake off dead thatch. Otherwise you can dig up the existing grass in turves and turn them over, grass side down, which will be a bit like using green manure. Weedkiller is best if it is full of perennial weeds. Rotovate by sjlawton

Talkback: Summer bedding plants
, detest bedding with a passion....mainly for the reason's you stated. I prefer to grow perennials from seed and watch them grown into strong mature plants over the years. I tend to fill up with cosmos and california poppies where possible, but inevitably by sarahs pondlife...
